Juan Paolo Aquino

Filipino Famous Artist: Juan Paolo "Jaypee" Aquino is a famous Filipino film director and photographer. A graduate of the London Film School, Aquino lived in London for almost four years and worked in a number of international film productions before going back to Manila. Some of his films were exhibited in a number of major short film festivals all through Europe.

Juan Paolo Aquino is considered one of the most prolific directors in Filipino media today, having directed television shows and short films for almost a decade. Aquino's trademark, visually arresting images, has re-invented the pace and the look of the different lifestyle magazine shows that he has directed throughout the years in the Philippines.

In 2006, Juan Paolo Aquino started his own personal project and tried his knack for photography. Emotional Core was the name of the project, and is now presently exhibited in Uncut Creative's Web Gallery. Some of his works have also been selected to be a part of the Dazed And Confused European Exhibit Project. Aquino spent more than five months travelling around Southeast Asia and mainland China to document the wealth of cultures from the different countries in the region.

In early 2000 he was assigned to direct travel documentaries for a Filipino International Channel. Juan Paolo Aquino then started producing for mainstream TV in 2001, one of which was for Digital Tour—now considered the longest running magazine show on technology in the Philippines. He also directed a diversity of local magazine shows for TV - Kiss The Cook with Ryan Agoncillo, The Good Life with Cory Quirino, Chef's On The Go with Mark Gil and Hanap Buhay Overseas with Angelique Lazo.

Gerardo de Leon

Gerardo de Leon is a famous Filipino artist who was born on September 12, 1913-July 25, 1981. Gerardo de Leon is a former Filipino actor turned film director, who made his acting debut in the 1934 movie Ang Dangal.

Nicknamed "Manong" and considered as "the Master," De Leon holds the sole distinction of being the most awarded film director in the history of the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences' FAMAS Awards, the Philippines' Oscars. From 1952 to 1971, he was awarded seven FAMAS Awards, three of them he received three years in a row.

Gerardo De Leon, who original name was Gerardo Ilagan, is a member of the Ilagan clan of Philippine motion pictures. This clan produced movie thespians Robert Arevalo, Liberty Ilagan and Ronaldo Valdez; and musical scorer Tito Arevalo. De Leon was a medical doctor by profession, but his ultimate love for film has won him over.

From 1952 to 1971, he was awarded seven FAMAS Awards, three of them he received three years in a row. What was more astonishing was that all the films in which he won for Best Director also won for Best Picture at the FAMAS. He won for Sawa sa Lumang Simboryo (1952), Hanggang sa Dulo ng Daigdig (1958), Huwag Mo Akong Limutin (1960), Noli Me Tangere (1961), El Filibusterismo (1962), Daigdig ng mga Api (1965), and Lilet (1971).
